There are also fantastic music events to go along to: from sunset concerts in the Santa Catalina castle or the No Sin Música festival which takes place in mid-August at the port. Although these are both ticketed events, there are lots of free activities going on as well, including the outdoor cinema at the entrance to the old town or, if you need to escape the sun, the city’s art galleries and museums have a variety of exhibitions on offer.
And although there are hot days, Cádiz is often more temperate than inland locations and, with the sea surrounding the city, it’s easy to escape to the beach for a quick dip.
I chose Active Language because of its location in a historic Spanish town and because of the length of the course.
