The pre-course task

Once you’ve been offered a place on the Trinity CertTESOL course, we send through a pre-course task for you to complete in the run-up to the course. This is based around a guide for teachers and will prepare you for the upcoming course and familiarise you with some of the concepts and terminology you’ll be introduced to.

For many sections of the pre-course task, an answer key is provided which gives you the opportunity to check your knowledge and identify areas which you’ll especially need to focus on during the course. If you find there are sections of the pre-course task which you find particularly difficult, you might like to check out this webpage which has some useful links to further consolidate your knowledge.

As it is a pre-service training course, we will still cover all the main concepts in further detail when you arrive and so don’t be worried if there are areas which are confusing. Teaching is a very practical skill and although it’s useful to have a look at the theory before arriving, much of what you read will make much more sense when you’re here and putting the theory into practice on a daily basis.

One of the benefits of taking a recognised qualification such as the Trinity CertTESOL is that it provides you not only with a solid foundation on the background and theory of teaching, but also requires you to put this knowledge into practice during the assessed Teaching Practice component. Whilst many other courses may offer peer teaching, on the Trinity CertTESOL here at Active Language you’ll spend a minimum of seven hours teaching and at least another twenty observing your peers and experienced tutors. This practical experience sets you up well for life in the classroom and you can read a little more about the Teaching Practice groups and hours on the blog.

Let’s face it, no look is really complete without the right finishes. Not to the best of standards, anyway (just tellin’ it like it is, babe). Upgrading your shoe game. Platforms, stilettos, wedges, mules, boots—stretch those legs next time you head out, then rock sliders, sneakers, and flats when it’s time to chill.
