Your questions

We originally developed this course for our CertTESOL trainees as those staying in Spain after graduating often found their timetables filled with YL classes.

However, over the years we’ve opened the course to all teachers and those who have previous experience working with younger learners have also picked up new tips and taken away lots of practical ideas to use in their classes.

The course is divided into 10 modules for you to work through at your own pace over the three weeks. Five will be available in the first week, looking at very young learners and primary-aged learners.

In the second week, the rest of the content will become available, looking at working with adolescents and also with sessions on CLIL (content-language integrated learning) and exam preparation.

During the third week, you can complete the modular content and work on the written assignment, allowing you to reflect on what you have learnt during the course.

There are also four live sessions during the course.

At the start of the course there’s a live session for you to meet the other course participants, as you’ll be interacting with them through the discussion forums.

There’s a live session each week to reflect on what you’ve looked at in the modules and develop conversations which have started on the discussion forums.

There is also a course round-up at the end to think about your next steps and how you can put what’s been covered on the course into practice.

Although there’s no specific required reading for the course, you may find it useful to read Children Learning English (J. Moon, Macmillan) as this introduces a lot of the background to teaching this age group.

If you take one of our Trinity Certificate in TESOL courses, you will receive a 50€ discount on your TYLE course, if you pay in full before the start date of your Certificate in TESOL course.
