Cádiz in the summer

There are lots of reasons to come to Cádiz year-round, but in the summer it really is a wonderful place to be. Here are some events happening in July and August to make the most of this beautiful city and all it has to offer.

Concerts in the Baluarte de la Candelaria

This open courtyard is the perfect spot for a summertime concert – sheltered from the wind but with the night sky above you. This summer, you can enjoy a summertime night of Carnaval music (19th July), a bit of old-school ska with The Skatalites (31st July), Mozart Hereos and their fusion of classical music and rock (9th August), Celtic music from Gwendal (23rd August) and much more in-between.

Films on the beach

Each year, there’s a series of open-air screenings on Playa Victoria. It’s a great night out for all the family, but get there early to get the best spot. This year you can enjoy films such as Life and Wonder Woman.

Watersports for all

If you’re after the sun, sand and sea, Cádiz has lots to offer both on its kilometres of glorious beaches and in the bay on the north side of the city. You can take surfing lessons at Cortadura, try your hand at windsurfing or sailing in the El Cano sports centre or go kayaking around teh Caleta.

Open-air dining

One of the joys of Cádiz is sitting out on a terrace, enjoying a delicious meal as the sun goes down, whilst enjoying the balmy warmth of the gaditano summer. There’s no shortage of picturesque squares in the city: Plaza Candelaria and Plaza Mentidero are spots which are popular with locals and tourists alike, or you can pop along to the rincón gastronómico in the central market and try some sushi, Moroccan kebabs or very Spanish fried pork scratchings.
