ELT teacher training in Algeciras

Part time Trinity College, Certificate in TESOL course

(starting October 2016)

This year Active Language, Cádiz are running the part time Trinity Certificate in TESOL in Algeciras. It is a hugely rewarding, highly professional, classroom based teacher training course for teachers with or without experience.

What is the course?

The Trinity Certificate in TESOL is an internationally recognised and accredited course with a guarantee of high-quality classroom based teacher training.

The course is structured around classroom teaching practice and is supported by input sessions covering teaching methodology, language awareness and other key teaching competences.

The heart of the course is the teaching practice where participants submit detailed lesson plans,  teach observed and then reflect and receive feedback on their teaching. They also observe other course members, their trainers and other highly experienced teachers. The magic of teaching happens in the classroom and any quality teacher training course must contain real classroom practice.

There are also several written including an in-depth profile and a series of 1-to-1 lessons prepared for an individual learner, a teaching practice portfolio and a language awareness exam.

Teachers who take the course finish with a much greater understanding of second language acquisition processes, a much sharper knowledge of effective teaching practice and a heightened awareness of how they can continue to develop.

All teachers feel like they have achieved something significant and that they are much better teachers than when they started. They will also be holders of the prestigious Trinity Certificate in TESOL which is also, of course, beneficial to any language school.

When is the course?

The course will begin in October 2016 and finish in June (with one day in Cádiz at the end of July).  The course takes place in Algeciras without the need to travel regularly into Cádiz.

It is on Friday mornings between 09.30 until and 14.30 to fit in with teachers’ existing timetables. Participants should be aware that there is a significant amount of work to do between Fridays too.

The part time course gives participants time. We all have commitments which mean the full time five week course in the summer can be complicated. The part time course is designed to fit into people´s busy lives. It gives practising teachers time to incorporate new methods into their day-to-day work access to tutor time. There is also weekly online support providing direct tutor access throughout the course

How much teaching experience or prior knowledge is necessary to do the course?

Some participants come to the course with several years teaching already under their belt without any training, some have taken other teaching courses and want to upgrade their teaching skills, knowledge and obtain an internationally recognised and accredited qualification and others are just beginning their teaching career.

The course is delivered entirely in English and is open to native English speakers and speakers of other languages alike, assuming a high level of English (C1 minimum).
